Another blog that always tops the Technorati list, TechCrunch became Michael Arrington’s full-time business in 2006, with $200,000 in monthly revenue from job boards and ads. Arrington began blogging about startups two years ago. The blog has since spawned a network of spin-offs for gear, mobile technology, and sites for Britain, France, and Japan. Federated Media handles ad sales for the sites, which get a total of about 5 million page views a month: $300 buys a small text ad for a week; banners start in the thousands. “Our advertisers are people who want to reach a tech audience and an early-adopter audience,” Arrington says. “It’s a targeted audience that spends a lot of money.” In addition to ad revenue, the company has sponsored parties, and in September plans to host TechCrunch 20, a conference in San Francisco, where 20 startups will launch their products and a panel of judges will pick one to receive a $50,000 prize.

Use forums, newsgroups and message boards to get help. They are good places where you can learn, grow and develop new skills to start how based business. You can read helpful posts, ask questions and get advice from other home business owners.
2 - Go to your local library - Go to your local library, check out some business’ books. Talk to the librarian. Libraries contain all sorts of home business books and resources. Your librarian should be more than pleased to help you find what you are looking for.

The half hour he spends each day writing ShoeMoney attracts 20,000 unique visitors daily, brings in $12,000 a month, and gives him a platform from which to launch his own Web products. His other Web businesses—AuctionAds, which displays ads for live eBay auctions on relevant sites, and NextPimp.com, which sells ringtones—are his main ventures; the blog accounts for only 3% of his company’s revenue. Other companies selling to businesses find a ripe audience of aspiring Web entrepreneurs reading ShoeMoney, which consistently ranks among the 100 top blogs on Technorati. Schoemaker had no ads on the blog until January, 2007, and the five spots sell out quickly. “We’ve never had an open advertising spot,” he says. “We have a waiting list.”

Many affiliate marketers, especially work at home professionals, assume that affiliate marketing is a scam and quit. Unfortunately, affiliate marketing through Google or Yahoo is not a scam. It is the marketer’s ignorance that is costing them money.
No matter what type of internet business a person operates, most will include affiliate marketing to a greater or lesser degree. Many businesses consider affiliate income as passive income, but they remain frustrated by the lack of success.
How Earnings are Calculated
Many factors are involved when calculating the affiliate’s earnings. Page rank, hits, inbound links, and Page Rank are all important. However, the search engines also track how many people click and compare it to how many people remain at the site for more than 30 seconds.
Ad Appearance
The effectiveness of an ad depends on its appearance. Adds that mimic a link bar on a webpage will do better than ones that appear to be advertisements.
This is why Google allows web publishers a wide variety of layouts and color combinations.

NEVER click an ad on your website. However, you can read the URL and go visit the site. What are they selling? Is it a good product? Do you know how to write an article that can ‘pre sell’ the product? Can your article ad value to the product? All of these questions will play a vital roll in the difference between the number of the ‘click through’ from your site and the number of ‘decisions to buy.’
There is nothing wrong with manipulating the ads that appear on your web page. If too many of those ads lead to ‘Hard Sell’ pages then change the keywords and topic of the page to attract something more ‘user friendly.’
AdSense Analytics
All business owners need to familiarize themselves with web analytics. AdSense has its own analytics program. Keep an eye on the pages, which ones work, which ones don’t, and which ads pay best. When you target an ad that earns a high affiliate payout then create more pages that attract that ad.
It is easy to track hits and traffic by creating ‘channels’ in the AdSense program.
Reversed AdSense
Don’t forget to improve your PPC campaigns success by using this advice in reverse. One thing that many small businesses often overlook in their Pay Per Click programs is the websites where their ads appear. If the ad appears on too many Made For AdSense pages, or the Return On Investment is low. Take a look at the sites where you want the ads to appear.

How to Make Money Using Google Adsense Part I

If you know how to make money using Google Adsense, you have an excellent source of passive income that requires very little maintenance once set up. However, the setting up could take some time and the philosophy behind websites designed for adsense is continually changing as Google change the way they view webpage content.
First, however, a few words about what Adsense actually is. Google run a pay-per-click advertising program called Adwords, which any registered member can use to promote any product that is not on Google’s exclusion list. That list contains adverts for sites such as adult sites and online gambling.
These Adwords adverts are displayed on the right hand side of Google search results pages. Webmasters can opt to display these Adwords adverts on their own websites by signing up for the Adsense program. Under this program, Google will use semantic analysis of the selected web pages and determine what adverts would best suit the semantics and vocabulary on the page.
This is similar to the LSI methods used by Google to determine the relevance of a web page to a search term used by a Google user, and so help to determine the listing position of that page in the Google results. Each time a visitor to the web page clicks on a Google advert, the webmaster receives a proportion of the cost of that click to the advertiser. It is obvious, therefore, that the more clicks you can get on your Adsense ads then the more money you will make.
