Actually the liberals of today are left leaning moderates for the most part, and LBJ was more of a conservative liberal (if that makes sense) used to counter-act the fact that JFK was a catholic (wow catholics even get treated like dogs in this country), but I'm digressing now, any true liberal would act contrary to what you have described, but from what I can tell, there aren't that many where I live anyway.

Because the liberals of today are hypocrites. They slam anything that comes from Republicans and support anything that is Democrat. I actually respect the liberals of the 60s. At least they stood for their principles. Today, a Democrat could create a law that made sodomy a precondition to voting and liberals would say, Hey, sounds like a good idea, Barak!" Get used to more of the same.
