the only way things like this could become dangerous is if ther start installing AI in them im guessing. then they can become self aware

It's unnerving and there's good reason. You know this thing is going to end up with a fuel cell or nuclear battery (to get rid of that noise) and some armaments. They'll run ground missions with these the same way they run aerial missions with Predator Drones.

You can just imagine a movie of when it finally snaps and equips itself with chainsaws and machine guns and runs around the woods. "And here we are on the sight of the mysterious disappearance of 43-year-old Ja- wait, whats that noise?! GAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!" Then Big Dog comes in and kills the cameraman and starts mauling the reporter. The woods and forests of boston will never be safe again.

pffff...sponsored by DARPA...this is quite worrying...DARPA is responsible for all the technology available in the military...this "BIG DOG" is only a module of what they can achieve...think about the fact that there are people that combine all the technologies (gps dynamics, face recognition, ability to calculate each and every movement)..anywho...it's kinda frigtening really...
